Suzanne Vallance

Content Designer and UX Writer

I’m a Glasgow-based creative who loves puns, brainstorming sessions, and lasagne. Seriously, my family even cooks one on Christmas Day.

When I’m not thinking about food, I work with clients, designers, developers, and project managers to produce user-focused content.

User needs come first

We can’t create the correct content if we don’t understand the needs of the people we’re creating it for. Measuring the problems users face on the Shelter Scotland site helps me fix pain points and produce relevant housing guidance.

Tools make complex tasks simple

A tool that populates councils’ homeless department details helps reduce the cognitive load of people facing homelessness. People interact with the tool and the ‘what happens next’ section for 2 minutes 45 seconds. This is a minute longer than the Shelter Scotland average.

Hilton’s content redesign

Led by user and desk research, I created and edited USP-focused copy for Hilton’s largest-ever content overhaul. My work drove growth in conversion and revenue for more than 4,400 hotels, achieving a 21.5% increase in click-through rate over 10 months.

Is it accessible?

Designing content that meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) makes the internet easier for everyone to use, including those with disabilities. Together with a designer, I created a template for accessible contact forms.

Creative CMS solutions

The four restaurants on Hilton Singapore’s restaurant website have individual cuisine, branding, and clientele. I designed a library of modular CMS components that gives each restaurant page its own identity without jeopardising a cohesive design.

Company swag with style

Whether it’s coasters, pens or notepads, free company swag always gets snapped up by staff. Collaborating with graphic designers, I produced pop-culture merch mock-ups for Hilton’s web developers.
